Send Holiday Cheer to Local Seniors

A card in the mailbox can change someone’s day.

For many seniors, the holidays can be a quiet time of year. A handwritten card from a neighbor they’ve never met is a reminder that someone is thinking of them. You can be that someone.

Through United Way’s Holiday Card Delivery, we’re working with local senior communities and agencies to put cards in the hands of thousands of seniors this season. Last year, more than 5,000 cards were delivered, and we’re hoping to brighten even more holidays this year.

What to do

  • Grab a stack of cards and write a warm note to a local senior.
  • You don’t need to address them to anyone. With needs in our community changing so quickly, our community partners will add names to the envelopes before delivery.
  • Drop off your cards by 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 10th, 2026, at the United Way of Central Illinois office, 1999 Wabash, Suite 107, Springfield.
